UHT is a distance learning university, utilizing a world-class, professionally-managed online campus system that is on-par with any modern academic college or university providing online degree study in the world today.
Studying in an online distance learning program is very different from a traditional in-classroom program. There are many advantages to distance study - there are also some unique challenges of which the prospective student should be aware. First, the benefits. Perhaps the greatest benefit of online /distance study is flexibility. Unlike traditional classroom programs, UHT students are free to read and work on their assignments at their own pace, on their own schedule. So, for example, if you need to take a break for a few weeks - no problem - Your schedule is your own.
Other benefits include the ability to structure your study and research around a pace that is appropriate for you. Some subjects will really draw you in and warrant a more in-depth study that a set-schedule wouldn't normally accommodate. The UHT style of distance study allows for ease and efficiency of submitting work and accessing your grades, guides, supplementary resources, entering discussions with our global community, etc.
As mentioned earlier, there can be a few challenges with online / distance study for some students. While usually a benefit, the great flexibility of this type of study can also be a challenge for those students who require a more structured learning environment. Distance study is best suited for motivated self-starters who are able to work on their own without the typical pressures of course schedules and assignment deadlines.
Those without past experience with online / distance-learning programs may not know what to expect from this type of study. Some may also be wondering if they have sufficient "technical" background - or the appropriate computer equipment or software to manage working online. The reality is that the UHT online campus has been designed to be easy and efficient to use - even for the novice computer-user.
Here's how it works:
When you complete your degree program enrollment, you will receive a private "user-name" and "password" to access the UHT Online Campus. When you enter the online campus site, you will see "links" to the degree program(s) and/or Degree Modules in which you are enrolled.
Each Module has its own private campus page that includes everything you need (besides your text-books) to complete the course. Documents (course and assignment guidelines, writing guidelines, etc.) are provided in standard PDF format for easy reading / download.
When ready, you will write your assignments in your own word-processing software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Open Office, Google Docs, etc.) and simply upload your finished assignment to the appropriate area of the online campus. Once submitted, your Professor will receive automated notice by e-mail - and will then be able to review and grade your paper.
All grades and comments are available to you from your own private "grades" area of the online campus system.
In most cases, if you are able to access the Internet without difficulty or restriction, you should not have any issue at all with accessing the UHT online campus system from anywhere in the world.
Modern universities, such as UHT, are able to provide this type of cutting-edge technology to students to help make the degree study process as efficient and enjoyable as possible. There are no "live" classes to attend - no commuting - no sending assignments off in the postal mail - and no waiting a month or more to receive a grade, or an answer to a question! The Internet allows for more efficiency, greater access and a highly dynamic learning process. |
